Call for applications “Postes rouges 2027”: mobility for foreign colleagues to French Maths departments institutionally associated with CNRS Mathematics
Information for candidates
Eligibility: candidates must be employed at an institution abroad. All levels of seniority are eligible beyond the postdoctoral level (equivalents to CR CNRS, MCF, DR CNRS, PR assistant, associate, or tenured)
Duration: 2 to 3 months. Visits of a duration of two-months will be funded on a lump-sum basis, with reimbursement of up to €3,000 per month processed through the host laboratory. Three-month stays will be covered preferably through fixed-term contracts with a salary calculated by the regional CNRS office, or funded on a lump-sum basis with reimbursement processed through the host laboratory. Shorter periods cannot be funded under this program.
Time frame: the current call for applications covers invitations that must take place between February 1, 2027 and November 30, 2027.
Financial support: is intended to cover all expenses (travel, visa, lodging, and meals) for the duration of the stay. As soon as results are announced, the host laboratories should provide the awardees with specific details regarding the use of the lump-sum payment (purchase of transportation tickets individually or through the department, accommodation booking, etc.).
Application (in French or in English) must include :
- A specific research proposal for the intended visit (2–3 pages maximum) naming at least one person who will serve as a research partner at the hosting UMR or FR
- A Curriculum Vitae or resume and a list of publications from the past 5 years. Applicants are requested to indicate their date of birth in order to comply with CNRS Human Resources administrative rules.
- Provisional dates for the 2- or 3-month visit with a starting date no earlier than February 1, 2027, and a finishing date no later than November 30, 2027. Dates will need to be confirmed as soon as a formal announcement of the results is made and secured especially if a fixed-term contract is offered.
- A tentative letter (or copy of an email) from the Head of the chosen UMR or FR confirming the hosting arrangement and terms in the event of a selection.
Where to send the application
1) each application should be sent to the Head of Department of the UMR or FR identified as host institution (this can be done through the help of a local colleague you will be working with)
2) Applications which are also linked to an international laboratory (IRL) or to an international network (IRN) should additionally be sent to the director of the IRL or the French coordinator of the network.
