ERC Advanced Grant 2024: Two winners in mathematics
The European Research Council (ERC) has just announced the results of the “ERC Advanced Grant 2024” call for proposals, which targets established researchers. In mathematics, two projects led by French winners have been awarded grants.
In 2025, the European Research Council (ERC) will fund 281 researchers with Advanced Grants totaling €721 million as part of the Horizon Europe program. These grants enable scientists who are recognized in their field at national and international level to carry out innovative, high-risk projects that open up new avenues in their discipline or in other fields. Aimed at established researchers, these grants are at a higher level of experience than the Starting Grants grants (up to €1.5 million for European project leaders who obtained their PhD between two and seven years ago) and Consolidator grants (up to €2 million for researchers with seven to twelve years of experience after obtaining their PhD). Each of these five-year projects has a maximum budget of €2.5 million1 .
