Marion Darbas is the associate scientific director of the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences and Their Interactions, responsible for innovation and interdisciplinarity.

A professor at Sorbonne Paris Nord University (USPN), she conducts her research at the Laboratory for Analysis, Geometry, and Applications (LAGA CNRS UMR 7539) within the “Modeling and Scientific Computing” team, and is an associate member of the “Mathematics for Biology and Imaging” team. Her work focuses on mathematical analysis, as well as the development and implementation of numerical methods for solving direct and inverse wave propagation problems, particularly in relation to medical applications.

She served as an appointed member of the French National Council of Universities (CNU) in Section 26 from 2012 to 2015; she also served on the Scientific Council of the Institut de l’Insmi and was a member of its executive board from 2019 to 2023. From 2020 to 2024, she headed the Applied Mathematics program at the Sup’Galilée engineering school. In 2026, she was elected to the Council of the Galilée Institute of the USPN.
