The Centre Mersenne, always committed to open science
The Mersenne Centre is a public publishing infrastructure serving the scientific community, developed by Mathdoc with the support of the CNRS and the University of Grenoble Alpes.
The Mersenne Centre promotes diamond open access (no publication fees, no charges for readers) and thus actively contributes to the movement towards open knowledge. To this end, it is strengthening its presence within the French and international open science ecosystem, as illustrated by several recent developments:
Participation in the TSOSI project
The Mersenne Centre is becoming a member organisation of TSOSI (Transparency to Sustain Open Science Infrastructure) in order to raise the profile of, and thereby promote, the institutions that support the platform.
The TSOSI project, Transparency to Sustain Open Science Infrastructure, is led by the University of Grenoble Alpes and funded by the Ministry for Higher Education and Research. Its aim is to contribute to the sustainability of open science infrastructures, such as the DOAJ, PeerCommunityIn, OPERAS, SoftwareHeritage and the Mersenne Centre. By highlighting the organisations that support these infrastructures, TSOSI aims to attract an ever-increasing number of funders.
Once again a recipient of funding from the Couperin fundraising campaign
Once again this year, the Mersenne Centre is one of the initiatives selected for the Couperin 2026 fundraising campaign (alongside others such as ArXiV, the DOAJ, Episciences and the Repères network).
Every year, the Couperin consortium launches a fundraising campaign amongst its members and selects initiatives that promote open science. The contributions made as part of this campaign directly support the running and development of these infrastructures and, in this case, the Mersenne Centre.
The Mersenne Centre had already been selected during the 2025 campaign and had received support from four Couperin members:
- IFREMER – Institut Français de Recherche pour l'Exploitation de la Mer (French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea)
- INRIA – Institut National de Recherche en Sciences et Technologies du Numérique (French National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology)
- ENS Lyon – École normale supérieure de Lyon
- Université de Lorraine
Member of the Open Journals Collective
The Mersenne Centre has been accepted as a ‘Publishing Member’ by the Open Journals Collective. This status enables it to submit journals for funding schemes.
The Open Journals Collective is an international collective bringing together research organisations, libraries, university presses and non-profit academic publishers committed to Diamond Open Access.
