André Belotto da SilvaEnseignant-chercheur
André Belotto da Silva has been a professor of mathematics at the Jussieur Institute of Mathematics – Paris Rive Gauche1 since 2021. He obtained his PhD in 2013 from the University of Haute-Alsace. His work focuses on singularity theory, algebraic geometry, and differential geometry, particularly on the resolution of singularities for foliations and differential forms. He directed the GDR Singularities and Applications in 2023–2024, then became director of the GAS (Algebraic Geometry and Singularities) Thematic Network for the period 2024–2028. Since 2025, he has been co-director of the Master 2 program in Fundamental Mathematics at IMJ-PRG. After his appointment as professor at Paris Cité University, he was appointed to a professorship and, in 2024, became a junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France.

DiffeRS (Differential methods of Resolution of Singularities and applications to algebraic and differential geometry)
Singularities—points where a geometric object exhibits particular local behavior—appear naturally in geometry, analysis, and physics. While the resolution of singularities is well developed for algebraic varieties, its extension to fundamental objects of differential geometry, such as foliations or differential forms, remains largely incomplete beyond three dimensions. Indeed, the geometry of foliations involves transcendental phenomena that introduce new difficulties.
The objective of this project is to develop methods for resolving singularities adapted to these differential objects. This involves exploring new approaches inspired by differential and algebraic geometry, then articulating them with tools from birational geometry. The ambition is to establish a systematic framework for the study of singularities of foliations and differential forms, while paving the way for applications in Riemannian geometry, Lipschitz geometry, and other related fields.
